About this place
At breakfast, one of the first things to catch the eye at Shintou is Morning Set A: thick toast filled with boiled egg mixed with mayonnaise. Diners who have ordered it have remarked on the generous thickness of the toast and the plentiful egg filling. Another visitor praised the finely chopped egg mayonnaise, the toast’s browning and the butter spread right to the edges. It makes a satisfying centrepiece for a morning meal.
There are other breakfast choices, too. Set B pairs buttered toast with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and potato salad, while Set C is a hot sandwich filled with potato and ham, and egg and ham, with fresh lettuce. The brunch set combines ham toast with the house’s special tartar sauce, a boiled egg and a banana; it also suits a meal that bridges breakfast and lunch.
For a sweet finish, try the Coupe Mont Blanc, named after the café. Homemade pudding is wrapped in vanilla ice cream and topped with chestnut, and the dessert comes with iced tea. One diner recalled finding pudding inside the ice cream, with chestnut adding a distinctive accent. Another described the homemade pudding as gently sweet with a firm texture, and said it paired well with coffee.
The pudding is also available on its own or as part of a set with hotcakes, making either a tempting option for a break centred on something sweet. Drinks include charcoal-roasted coffee, café au lait and Wiener coffee, which can accompany anything from morning toast to an afternoon dessert.
